Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help
Our Annual Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help will be held from 25th May to 3rd June 2026, as we gather for nine days of prayer, reflection, and devotion under her loving care.
We look forward to welcoming Fr. Seamus Devitt, CSsR, who will guide and accompany us throughout the Novena.
As part of the Novena, a Special Mass for the Sick and Housebound will be celebrated on Saturday 30th May 2026 at 10:30 AM.
We warmly encourage everyone to come along and to bring someone with them, so that all may share in this time of grace and prayer.
Birmingham Inner City Roman Catholic Mission.
A meeting was held at Cathedral House on Thursday 30th April, and present were the priests representing the nine parishes, bishop David Evans, the Dean, Rev. Gary Buckby, Mr Eric Kirwin, Chief Operating Officer for the archdiocese. The purpose of the meeting was to look at how the nine parishes could best work together to provide pastoral/religious/spiritual care across the inner-city region and to look at what changes/alterations to current working practices/provision of services might be required soon.
The template for our discussions is a booklet, published by the Catholic Truth Society, CTS, called
“The Pastoral Conversion of the Parish Community in the service of the Evangelising Mission of the Church.”
Cover price, £5.95. available from www.ctsbooks.org or from the Cathedral bookshop or by typing in the title to a search engine you can download a copy to read or print off. Our reason for mentioning this is that people have the right to be informed and the duty to inform themselves, so there should be no surprises when change eventually comes about, which will be sooner rather than later.

(Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi)
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
