OUR STORY

St Francis R.C. Church

St Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church is based on the corner of Wretham Road and Hunters Road, Handsworth, Birmingham. Founded in 1840, the original church was, what is now St Mary's Covent located across the road from today's church. As the Catholic population increased, it was decided a bigger space was needed and in 1894, St Francis R.C. Church opened its doors to the community. The church was then refurbished in the 1980s by Monsignor Thomas Fallon.

Next door to the church is the St Francis Centre, which was built in 1909 by the then parish priest, Monsignor John O'Hanlon. It houses 3 large functions rooms, kitchens, offices, bar and more.

3 rooms to choose from

The Centre has 3 separate rooms that can all be booked for private hire but also has the option of utilising all 3. Our main room and smaller suite have bi-folding doors and our second-floor suite has a balcony over the main room.

Bar & Kitchen facilities

We have bars in both our downstairs rooms and kitchen facilities off the main room and also upstairs. We provide catering for hot or cold buffets at competitive rates as well as allowing you to use external caterers if that is your preference.

Live Music & Entertainment

Every Sunday evening we have live entertainment and bingo. We also host much larger events on select Saturdays and celebration dates throughout the year such as

St Patricks Day!

Functions

Bingo & Luncheons

We previously ran a weekly, Senior Citizens Luncheon for the local community but due to Coronavirus this had to be paused - however we look to return it in the near future.

Bingo takes place every Sunday and Monday.

Private hire is available for any occasion.

We take bookings for all event types in advance with a small deposit to reserve your date.

We can even provide table cloths, music systems and event lighting should you need it.

As pictured, the wonderful Carole and Dolores provide our in house catering. They can provide a range of buffet options all discussed with you, to your preference at the time of booking. You won't find quality catering at a more reasonable price than these ladies.
